News Colin Wright obituary

My husband, Colin Wright, who has died aged 68, was a superb teacher, able to deconstruct difficult ideas and present them to his students in an amusing and easily digestible way. He taught international marketing in a wide range of institutions, including prisons. His final post in the UK was as head of the marketing and economics department at the University of Wolverhampton. In this post he became involved in setting up Erasmus exchange programmes with universities across EU member states, and European Credit Transfer schemes.A passionate supporter of the European Union, Colin believed study abroad had an important role to play in building continent-wide networks and promoting the European ideal. Eventually he followed his own advice about educational mobility and, in 2002, went to teach in France at Toulon business school. He became a fluent French speaker, but always with a distinct English accent and a certain disregard for French genders. Continue reading...
