Anyone predicting eight days ago that Nicky Morgan would now be in charge at Sanctuary Buildings wouldn't have been taken seriously. With only nine months to make her mark, she doesn't have the luxury of time, but she will have to decide pretty quickly whether she wants to be a Gove follower or tread a different path. Whatever she does, however, it is likely to be her predecessor, not her, who will write the history of education during the time of the coalition.
