News Proportion of pupils gaining five good GCSEs decreases significantly

Changes to exams thought to be behind smaller percentage of those achieving at least five Cs, including in English and mathsThe proportion of teenagers gaining five good GCSEs including English and maths has dropped significantly, it has been revealed, largely as a result of changes to exams.In total, 52.6% of pupils in England gained five A*-C grades this year, down from the 59.2% who achieved the same benchmark last year, according to official statistics released by the Department for Education on Thursday.
