    I would use these cads to help the children understand how many phonemes are in the words. I would get the children to write the word, then put the sound buttons under the phonemes then check to see if they were understanding that sometimes 2 letters make 1 sound,

Phase 3 Sound Button Word Cards

Phase 3 Sound Button Word Cards - Phase 3 sound button word cards - four per A4. Words have sound buttons beneath to help children to blend to read the words. Full set of words that can be used with many of the activities as outlined in the DfES Letters and Sounds publication. Children 'press' the buttons and say the phonemes above to read the words.
