  • I'm using this with my Japanese - LOTE class for basic greetings - hold up the card and have students answer the time of day this would happen in Japanese.

A ‘when’ sorting activity centred on activities that take place in the morning or at night (some could be both) to support the understanding of the question word ‘when’. This can be done in a small group or with individual children. The adult asks the children when the activities are done to support the understanding of the question word ‘when’ e.g., ‘when do you brush your teeth?’ The children will then look for the correct picture to match/stick onto the morning or night pictures. As the children become familiar with the activity, they can take turns to ask the question.
