  • Hi, Would there be one of these kind of games for the OW phonic but with the 'oa' sound such as blow, glow, flow, crow etc? Thanks very much

    • Hi shajen,

Thanks for contacting us with your lovely resource suggestion. I have made a request for that to be made :)
In the meantime, have you tried our Create tool? You can now create your very own roll and read mats! Our Twinkl illustrations are available for use with a range of fabulous templates: http://www.twinkl.co.uk/create
Please do get back in touch if I can help further. Have a lovely day : )

  • Great resource! I get the students to play this game in pairs.

  • My children love these roll and read activities - they use them independently after we have introduced the sound. They play in pairs, like connect 4 (but 6) they have to read the words they have coloured in to a 3rd child for checking. They appeal to the fiercely competitive children I have this year in YR.

    • Hi there miss.robin, thanks for your comment! The 'ow' as in snow, blow, grow isn't covered in phase three of letters and sounds, is this what you were referring to? We could make a general resource for this maybe called 'ow phoneme roll'. Do let me know your thoughts and if this would be useful. :)

Get your children to roll a dice and recite the phase three phonemes on the line that matches their number, perfect for literacy lessons.
