  • I'm confused - in some cases digraphs are given a larger box to show that a digraph is required, however for 'brush' all four boxes are the same size.  This inconsistency has proven confusing for many children in my setting.

  • I can see there have been a few comments on this resource about how many boxes are needed for words with an 'nk' sound in them.  Different phonics schemes use different approaches to 'nk', so I've asked our lovely resource team to pop an alternative version of this resource on the website with four boxes for words including an 'nk'.

    , Jan 10th
  • Hi,
Some of the pictures don't have the right amount of boxes for the sounds e.g. drink, plank and blink only have 4 boxes instead of 5.Thanks,Clare

    • Hi cburgess,
I am really sorry to hear about this mistake, and I apologise if it has caused you any trouble. It will be changed shortly!

      , Nov 16th
    • Hi there cburgess,
Thank you for spotting this mistake! Our lovely teacher and design teams have solved the issue and have emailed the corrected resource to you! It will also be updated on the website very soon - I hope you find it useful!

      , Nov 16th
    • It was correct in the first place, drink has only 4 phonemes/graphemes in it.
      d r i nk = 4

nk is taught as one sound.

  • I LOVE these!

Iv previously used the CVC ones, and I printed them out double sided and laminated them. I then give leave them on a table (free activity) with dry wipe markers. Pupils write on the cards directly, and after use, they can easily be wiped off using a board rubber/tissue/cloth. After a term of teaching CVC words (reception class 4/5 year olds) they are now ready to move on to CVVC/CCVV words, so these are a great extension activity. Absolutely LOVE them!

  • Agree with Hannah22 - be careful as not all the words are CVCC and CCVC. There are some CVC words here. The ones that are good are excellent however.

    , Feb 7th
  • Fantastic resource with many good cvcc and ccvc words but words such as 'fish' and 'shed' would need three boxes not four. E.g. f-i-sh and sh-e-d
