  • This may be a silly suggestion but with subtraction you can only use the inverse operation when the missing number is the at the start (e.g. the largest number) You need to subtraction when the second number is missing. e.g. 70-__= 50
    You would need to do 70-50. Is there any way you could produce resources to demonstrate this. Ellie

When you are using inverse operation with subtraction, all you need to do is take the largest number first and the subtract the smallest number, the difference will be the missing number in the number sentence.
