This is fab for recording the practical side of maths such as the Year three LI of representing numbers in different ways. They can stick the shape in their book rather than going through the whole photo route!

I used this with a kindy student: counting, ordering from smallest to largest, and then I would ask addition and subtraction questions (eg. can you add some of these together to make 12? if I wanted to make these two the same size, how many dots would I need to get rid of?)

Matching holes to written numbers, then sequencing
Finding number bonds - which 2 Numicon would you put together to make the same as this 10 (or any other number) Numicon?
Multiplication - repeated addition of the same number. Also helps children to visualise arrays

  • Nov 13th

I've already downloaded the shapes from but wanted the upper 'blank' dots outine for the children to draw their own versions of the numbers.

This would be useful, when laminated,l for children to take home.

  • Oct 13th

My colours arte the same as the numicon. Great

  • May 25th

  • Jan 21st

The colours match my numicon pieces! They must have fixed it :-)

  • Sep 30th

Be aware that if you use Numicon in your school these counting number shapes that look like Numicon are not the same colours as the Numicon pieces.

  • Nov 29th

It's a shame the colours do not correspond to the Numicon number plates.
