  • This is an excellent reading test. I love the challenge of the flashback in the fiction paper. Could the wording in Question 11 of the non-fiction text be tweaked? A lot of children in my class kept it simple as it's a one mark answer and answered something like, "There would be a flood." Could you change it to, "Why might flooding occur if several hours of rain follows weeks of steady rain?" That way you are forcing them to find the section of the text which mentions the ground being already saturated with water.

    • Also, could question 4 in the fiction part have an extra line? The sentence they have to copy is a long one.

    • Hi noylette,
Thank you so much for getting in touch! It's lovely to hear from you :) I have taken a look at this resource, and can see that the content domain for this question refers to predicting what might happen from details stated and implied, rather than retrieval from the text. I have, however, asked to teacher who created it to have a look just to make sure it is all correct :)

    • Hi noylette,
Hello again! Of course - I can see this being useful - I'll ask our design team to make the update!

    • Hello again :) Just to let you know the teacher who created this resource has been back in touch and has said that as the question does relate to the content domain 2e that is all about predict from something that is implied - we believe there is enough information in the 'Flooding' section to answer this in the way the mark scheme states. I hope this helps :)

  • Is there an assessment sheet for term 3?

    , Jun 29th
  • Hi,
I can see that the assessment grid tells you if a child is work at for each questions and that it gives each child an overall %, however is there a way of knowing what that percentage means in terms of ARE? For eg Bob got 64%- does that exceed/at/below age related expectations for year4? This is the one thing that would change whether we use this resource as a school or not. Thank you :)

    • Hi shaliwhite,
Thank you for commenting! :) Your suggestion seems like a really good idea and I have passed this over to our lovely design team. They will get back to you shortly :)

      , May 25th
    • I would also love to know what the percentages would indicate in terms of ARE if possible?

      , Jun 9th
    • Hi ninanewman,
Thanks for getting in touch, it's lovely to hear from you.

These assessments have been created to inform teachers of the progress made for each of the objectives and to identify any weaknesses. Therefore, I'm afraid I am not able to provide you with percentages in terms of ARE.

I'm very sorry for any inconvenience this may cause you

      Have a lovely day! :)

  • On 'Extreme Weather' Q1 asks if it is 'your favourite king of weather'. Above Q4 it says the table on page 2 when it is on page 3.
