  • A great resource for introducing this tricky concept to year 3. To make it easier for the children to understand though, I would have preferred on slides 5 and 6 that the first option for each question was the simple past tense and the second option was the present perfect. That way the children can focus on what the answer is rather than also having to decide which option is the past/present perfect as well.

  • A brilliant resource but on the last question on slide 6, both answers turn green to suggest they are both correct. Could this be amended please?

  • This is perfect - I am using it as revision for Y6. My only problem with some of your Ppt. resources is the length of the file names; they seem to be so long that I have to rename them. Does anyone else have this problem?

    • Hi bronwen101,
Thank you very much for commenting! It's great to hear from you :) Have you had this issue with this resource?

      , Feb 2nd
    • Hi Bronwen,
Thanks for getting in touch! I'm sorry that you are having issues with downloading your Twinkl resources.

Sometimes, if a file name is quite long or a file quite large, it can be helpful to first download the resource to your desktop.

To do this, please right click on the pink Download button and select 'Save link as' and select your desktop as the destination. After this you should be able to extract and open these files in the usual way or save them in a different location as needed!

I hope this helps but if you need further guidance or have any other questions please do get back in touch!

  • This is a great resource can you make a quiz like the other ones supporting this slide, so basically asking the children if each question is simple past or present perfect. I can challenge them to see what they have learnt from the input at the start of the week in the last lesson at the end of the week. Many thanks

  • Great resource I can plan a whole weeks lesson using all your resources Maths, English, Spag, History and science. Thanks.

    • Hi hefarey,

Thank you for your comment on the Twinkl website.

I can certainly ask our resource team if we can do this for you. Would it meet your needs if on slides 5 and 6, you clicked on the options and it then tells you if it is correct or if it's incorrect?
I look forward to your reply!
      I hope you have a lovely day! : )

  • I am going to use this resource with my HA Y4 writing group as an introduction to this verb form. Clear explanation and simple to follow activities.

    , Sep 13th
  • I used this resource with my Year 5 class as they have not covered this objective before and it is new to the curriculum.
The power point does need amending as 'simple past' starts off in the colour orange on one slide and then changes to the colour blue on another slide (when blue is supposed to represent 'present perfect.') This became very confusing for them on a topic they were already struggling to understand!

    • Hey there Rachell, thanks for commenting! I've had a look, and passed this to our wonderful resource designers to have a look into :)
