I would like to suggest a my mnemonic for the recall of the numerals in size order:
I'm Very X-cited Like Children Doing Maths!

  • Jan 13th

I have taught my children to remember what the roman numerals are by remembering a mnemonic (I Value Xylophones Like Cows Do Milk) as this gives them a way to recall the numerals in size order, then they should be able to remember 1, 5, 10 etc. Could you do this as a poster? Or incorporate it somehow? Or find a better mnemonic? Thanks, year 6 teacher.
