  • Great for y6 practice. Do you have an analysis grid for these papers? It would be extremely useful so that once completed it would be r=easy to see where the gaps lie.

  • Great questions - just the layout needs tweaking somewhat.
Question 3 appears again at 19 (there are 2 question 19s) and there seems to be some issue with the marking boxes corresponding to the questions - i.e Q15 appears on pg 9 after the bus timetable on pg 8 that it refers to. Q14 appears on p8 - but there is a sentence after Q13 on pg 7 which refers to the lemonade.
Pg 7 says - here is a rectangle - but there is no rectangle - just a division. The themometers referred to on p6 are on pg 5 and the apples referred to on pg 5 are on pg 4. Question 7 is on pg 4 - but the carroll diagram is on pg 3 and the answer boxes for the previous questions are not clear.
It was very confusing for the children to complete the paper. We got there in the end with some direction.

    , May 10th
    • Hi there,

Thanks for your comment and I'm sorry that you're having trouble accessing some of our resources.

These assessments require a subscription to be able to access, as do many of our other practice papers.

If there are any particular areas of maths that you'd like help with revising, please email info@twinkl.co.uk and we can take a look to see if we have anything suitable which is free to download.

      Have a great evening :)

  • Hi
Q4 of paper 1b has a mistake. It says half as well as 2/3 in the first part of the question, this can be seen on screen as well as when printed of. The answer refers to the question when using to 'half' rather than 2/3.
    Thank you

    • Hi there,

      Thanks for your comment.

I've taken a look at these files and they appear to extract properly for me, so it may be an issue with your unzipping app.

I've sent you a separate email with further support about this! :)

      Have a lovely evening! :)

  • Paper B looks really great but unfortunaly it is saying that Paper A cannot be opened because it is corrupt. It doesn't seem to matter which zip tool I use either. Real shame (5 Stars if fixed!)

  • In the KS2 reasoning tests 3b question 6 has the digits written incorrectly in the question and correctly in the answers, which caused me to scratch my head when we used the question as a practice before referring to the answer!

    • Hi chadsmead,
Thank you very much for commenting! These tests are recommended to take 40 minutes. :)

  • My year 6 class believe that the answer to 15 is incorrect. The question asks for two numbers with a difference of 0.85. You give the answer as 0.85 and 0.15 - these two numbers have a difference of 0.7!

  • I commented on the difficulty of these tests back in September and asked Twinkl staff if they could consider making the tests a bit easier. Sadly I received no reply. Like FatemaV and senoredwards even my 'level6' children are failing to answer many of the questions.

    , Feb 28th
    • We've had a look again at these following the reviews and tested them in classrooms with some willing guinea pigs. The Y6 pupils said there were a few easy questions in there and were happy overall. The Y6 teachers said they were roughly correct in terms of difficulty and would prefer them to be on the more challenging side anyway so that if the papers in May were easier the pupils would be well prepared rather than intimidated by something much harder than they'd seen before. The scores their pupils got were roughly what they'd expected.

We don't want to change these as we have had a lot of positive feedback on them and it's difficult to make something that everyone is happy with, but what we will do is produce a set for the other year groups, so if you are looking for an easier test you could always try the Year 5 one once we've got it ready, and supplement with picking a couple of the more challenging questions from this one if required. I hope this helps :).

      , Feb 29th
  • I got my top mathematicians to try this and they did quite well. It is slightly harder than the example papers but not by that much. I think this is better than the CGP alternatives as they are too easy. A good resource.

    , Feb 28th
  • I have to agree with senoredwards. I have done two of the tests with my Year 6 class and even my absolute top mathematicians (who, using old assessment language, would have been working at Level 6) struggled to score above 20. They were left feeling very disheartened. The Arithmetic tests are perfect but the Reasoning ones seem way above even the National 2016 sample tests papers. I won't be using any more. Please can they be more in line with the official sample papers?

    , Feb 25th
    • Hi there FatemaV,

I'm sorry that this resource isn't as you expected. Thanks so much for letting us know about this. I will ask our teacher team to review this to make sure that it is line with national guidelines.

Please don't hesitate to get back in touch if you have any further queries and I hope you have a lovely evening! :)

  • Thank you very much for these. Perhaps it's just our school, but we had one or two demoralising scores, and the papers don't necessarily feel as though they're geared in that explicitly easy-to-hard format.

They are mostly accurate, but there was one edit which we had to make on the mark scheme which involved estimating a pie chart (Q18). The answer should be 570-620 (assuming the same 25 degree leeway given).

I'm not sure if this has been noted yet, as I can't remember when it was downloaded, but I thought I would let you know.

    • Hi there k.moore,
Unfortunately this isn't possible - but you could use screen capture software such as the Windows Snipping Tool to capture segments to mix and match in a Word document. I hope this is useful to you.

  • I was really impressed with the speed at which Twinkl staff made an amendment to the reasoning pack I had downloaded. With the increasing demands made on teachers and children (particularly in KS2), I don't know if I would still have 'a life' if it weren't for their excellent resources.
