  • Hi there, this is a lovely resource. Do you have a similar activity to 3 digits?  I have found the 4 digits one but it's a bit too high level.  Many thanks

  • There are problems with the place value work sheet with the tens and ones. Lots of misunderstanding as the ones need to be scattered especially in example 2 when the eye scans the 3rd column and reads it as 9 followed then by a column of 2 the same sort of problem with example 3. I was using this as a consolidation of previous learning as these are children who are new to me working at level 1 and 2.Having just read the comment below why is the updated sheet not offered as the default.

We have adapted this resource so the ones are scattered and easier to differentiate - I hope you find the sheet more useful!

  • Used with my year 1 and 2 class. They were confused with the ones as some were looking for patterns. For example from first look it looks like there are 9 ones in the 2nd question (First column of ones) so they thought there were 11 ones. Maybe the ones could be presented like a tens frame or gaps could be bigger?

This simple place value activity sheet is great for reinforcing work with bigger numbers, and for helping your children to see how numbers can be broken down into units and tens.
