    • Hi wholeschoolusers,

Thank you for your comment on the Twinkl website.

This resource has a number of uses. Great for help with addition, subtraction, counting on, counting back and general number recognition and reinforcement. For example as shown on the preview image, you could use this resource to help children when counting on/back. If you put a number in the starting box on slide 9 (e.g 5) you would then ask the children to count on until they reached the number in the end box which in this case is 14. You could then move the green pointer to any of the markers on the number line and add a number to help the children.
I hope this helps but please let me know if you are still unsure how to use this.
      I hope you have a lovely day! : )

    • Hi there, thanks for getting in touch. Sorry that you have not found the resource easy to use. The purpose of this resource is to help with addition, subtraction, counting on and counting back, general number recognition and any reinforcement. To add and subtract 2 digit numbers all you need to do is click on the 'Enable Editing' button and go to slide 5 to count in 2's to 10 or slide 10 to count in 2's to 20. Type 2 on the green circle which is your pointer, leave 0 in the white box at the beginning and the type in the last number in the white box at the end e.g. 10 or 20. You then move the green circle pointer with you as you count on or back. I hope that this helps but if you are still unclear with how to use this resource, then please do get back in touch. Have a lovely day :)

  • This will be useful as a starter or plenary for estimating (year 2). Each number line can be a different way of counting in steps (eg. 2's, 5's, 10's, 3's). The children will have to identify the scale and then estimate the number indicated by the green bubble. Very useful, thank you.

  • Too hard to move the marker saying zero. Too fiddly to use in whole class session. Needs to be more easily interactive.
