  • Thank you so much for this amazing resource! After my last lesson on evolution with Year 6, I realised we needed to learn more about fossils. This is the perfect resource: great illustrations, fab activity, lovely extension, clear explanation...Huge thank you from a (poorly and tired) teacher!

  • Thank you I can use these as secondary resources. The images give the children a better understanding of fossils. I can adapt and use parts for my year 6 science.Your resources are always excellent and saves time searching the internet for images and information. Twinkl team you are doing a great job. Thank you from a very busy teacher.

  • I'm sorry but your lesson fails to cover the year 6 Science objectives. your main activity in no way teaches the children how fossils provide evidence for evolution.

    • Hi there,

      Thanks for your comment!

I've just taken a look through this pack and I can see that within the lesson presentation it is possible to see how whales may have evolved from land animals which would support the 'recognise that living things haver changed over time' aspect of the Year 6 objective.

It looks like the main activity will help children to understand 'that fossils provide information about living things that inhabited the Earth millions of years ago' by looking at how skeletons can give us information about the way that dinosaurs lived.

We are always looking for ways to improve our resources so would welcome all suggestions about how you think this lesson could be improved.

      Have a lovely day! :)
