  • I'm another person who thinks these need rewording. The focus on peer pressure is good but it should be 'one of your friends tries to persuade you to ...'. That way, the learning/class scenarios can focus on how to resist peer pressure (not how to apply it!)

  • I think these need to be reworded. I wouldn't be happy using this angle with the children in my class.

    • Hi there,
Thank you for getting in touch! We understand that this is a sensitive but important area of the curriculum. We have therefore taken care to ensure that the scenarios included focus on peer pressure and persuading others to join in, rather than acting out the dangerous behaviours themselves. We hope this will encourage children to discuss these behaviours and look at how they can deal with peer pressure. I hope this helps but please get back in touch if I can help you further! :)

  • I teach PSHE as my main subject in a special school (FE dept) so I am very comfortable addressing this issue. I appreciate what you are trying to achieve regards to peer pressure with this resource however I strongly feel that it would benefit our young people how to 'say no' to peer pressure rather that the 'you ask them to join you' situation that is displayed on your cards. Good idea but I will be rewording them for my own use..

  • I feel uncomfortable with the fact these scenarios suggest my pupils give in to peer pressure and smoke a cigarette, try to encourage others to smoke, drink cider and beer, agree to take pills and decide to give sticking powder up their nose 'a go'.
