  • We found question 6 difficult (on the HA sheet) as the text doesn't really explain why the moon is colder/warmer. We deduced that it was due to it being slightly closer or further from the sun but it was difficult for students to answer this question.

  • These are great for independent reading time and we also use them for our 'bus stop' activities. There is one point though, the moon's phases are not caused by the shadow of the Earth as you have stated on the sheet. They are caused by the angles and location of the Moon, Sun and the Earth. (One of my lovely year four students explained the mistake to our class when she found it!) When there is a shadow from the Earth, it is an eclipse. Loving the resources, sorry to be picky!!! :)

  • Hi,

Liked the resource on the whole however some of the science behind it is a bit off. the phases of the moon are because of the angle we view the moon relative to the Sun's position, not because the earth casts a shadow on the moon - that's called an eclipse (partial or full)

    Thank
