  • hiI'm wondering about the mish mash of coulours and would suggest supporting students' patterning understanding by having one version where the place value houses were all the same colour so the 3 columns within the thousands were all graduated shades of yellow, increasing in shade strength from ones to hundreds
and secondly for another version but for the same reason have all the ones of each house the same colour, the tens the same etc.  Again you could intensify the shade as the size s largerThanksRebecca P

    • HI One thing, I'd make the thousandths a differentt colour to the tenths and hundredths. Being a complete pain I also tend to write 'one' thousandths, one thousands and one millions etc to reinforce that pattern of one, ten, hundreds of each place value.

  • Will be using this with the decimals and equivalent fractions cards to help scaffold the patterns of equivalent decimals/fractions with a learner who really struggles with them. Would love a b&w version that has "units" on it.

    • Hey there,
Thanks for commenting. We have however produced a units alt so I'll certainly see if our lovely resource team can produce a black and white version for you.

  • Hi,
I cannot find the version that ConnaughtJS suggested under alternative versions. I too would find it useful to have fractions after the decimal point. What should I search to find it under a main resource and where do I find the banner version too please ?
    Thank you
    J

  • There is a small mistake on the 100 000 column as it is written 1 00 000, rather than 100 000. Great resource.

  • Hello,
I use this resource as a support material on the children's tables.
Is it possible to have one as a banner to put on my maths working wall so I can model to the children as well as have it on display?
    Many thanks

  • This was my idea, so why doesn't this appear? I submit things in suggest a change, but then seem to not be credited for it, along with other suggestions?

    • Hi sarahbagleyq,

Thank you for your message. I'm sorry that you feel that you haven't been credited for your suggestion. If your suggestion was made on another resource, and this is a resource based on that one, your suggestion should appear there. We love working with the lovely people who use our site and believe that everyone should be acknowledged for their input.

Have a lovely day and thank you for your continued support :)

  • This is so much better without a whole column for the decimal point. Time to re-print and laminate these for all the tables again (: Thank you.

  • Could you change the column headings to 1/10, 1/00 and 1/1000 to show a fraction rather than t, h, th as this can confuse children and it helps them see that fractions/ decimals appear after the decimal point and 0.1 = 1/10, 0.01 = 1/100 and 0.001 = 1/1000?

  • For all Y4 class to have in their learning packs. With regard to decimal point - I do think it needs adding (and have done so by hand) but not a space leaving for it. Have just managed to get children not to put decimal point in its 'own square' in maths books.
