  • This powerpoint doesn't show the layout of a formal letter such as the position of the addresses and the date. It also doesn't show how to start the letter or end it. I think it would be far better if there was some form of modelling for pupils.

    • Hello celticgirl, this is just the planning lesson for the formal letter, hence it concentrates on content. The second lesson which can be found here: http://www.twinkl.co.uk/resource/t4-e-177-writing-a-formal-letter-lesson-2-drafting shows the correct layout and gives pupils an example with mistakes in it for them to correct. This activity sheet also models the correct layout and opening/endings. This is a KS4 lesson and so has less step by step instructions as a certain amount of knowledge would be expected by then.

      If you would like a formal letter writing lesson aimed at KS3 please let us know and we can do this :).
