  • A very good idea and the ppt was very useful and clear. However the quality/sharpness of the maps for the Middle and Upper groups makes it very difficult to see. I printed them out in best quality and in colour. Also the statement for the higher sheet states that 'I can use four figure grid references to locate places on a map' and then presents the children with 6 figure ones that aren't in some cases particularly accurate. As a result some of my children were quite frustrated and confused. Sorry to seem so negative I was really looking forward to using it with my class and was disappointed with the results.

  • This is a fantastic resource however on the 4 figure grid code cracker sheet, the answer 'VICARAGE' is not on the map so the children couldn't work out the secret location.

    • Hi there, thanks for getting in touch. The answer appears on the map as 'Vic' and you can see it in the co-ordinate (14,22). If there is anything else that we can help you with then please get in touch! Have a lovely day :)

  • I used the grid references lesson successfully today however the cracking the code sheet has a couple of errors- either too many or too few dashes for the answer to be written on.

  • For session 2 on symbols and marking it mentions ordnance survey map pack...Is this supposed to be included as I am struggling to find them??

    • Hi There,
I've just had a look at the lesson pack; there isn't actually an Ordnance Survey Map Pack required. The sections of map required in the 'What are Ordnance Survey Maps' are found on the OS website (there is a link to the page on Slide 4 of the Lesson Presentation). In the resources it also suggests having some Ordnance Survey maps to hand.
Any Twinkl resources included in the pack are highlighted in blue on the Lesson Plan and any that are not included have a link to their page on the website.
I hope this has helped, have a great day!

    • Hi Graeme,

I've tried clicking on the link for the Ordnance survey map website on slide 4, but it doesn't work. The video also doesn't work. Could you please check this?

    • Hi Saadia1,
I will ask one of teacher advisers to have another look in to this for you. :)

      , Sep 17th
    • Hi Saadia1,
Sorry to hear that you're having problems. I've just checked and both of the links work on our computer. I have a couple of suggestions which may help. Firstly, could you please check that you have the PowerPoint in presentation mode. You then need to click on the 'play' arrow to follow the link. I had a security message that popped up to confirm I was happy that the page was safe to view, but clicking on 'Yes' took me to the correct webpage. I hope this information is helpful. I f you still experience problems, please get back in touch with details of what is happening on your computer and we'll ask our technical team if they have any further advice.

      Have a lovely day! :)
