This lesson teaches children about the types of foods that the ancient Maya people would have eaten with an in-depth focus on the significance of corn and chocolate. The children research the importance of these foods and argue which they think is most significant in a whole class debate. There is also the opportunity for children to make their own versions of Maya tortillas and hot chocolate using the recipes provided. Made in conjunction with Dr. Diane Davies, Specialist and Consultant on the Maya - www.mayaarchaeologist.co.uk
