  • There is a mistake on the PowerPoint presentation on slide 8/12. It says that 35 divided by 5 is 6, so 2/5 of 35 would be 12, therefore 12 buns would have pink icing. Of course, 35 divided by 5 is 7 and therefore 14 buns would have pink icing.

This is the second of a set of three lessons on solving problems involving fractions. This lesson teaches children to solve problems involving fractions by identifying the fraction of amount needed and then calculating non-unit fractions of amounts. It includes a lesson plan, presentation and differentiated activity sheets.
