  • This powerpoint says William Morris used printing machines and artificial ink to make wallpaper, when the whole point of what Morris was doing was reacting against factories and urbanisation. Unless I have completely misunderstood (but I did visit the William Morris museum in Walthamstow recently) his wallpapers were hand made by craftsmen using block printing techniques and natural dyes so they looked medieval.  I'm going to edit it, because otherwise its a great PPT!

    • Hi there,
Our lovely resource creation team have looked into this for you, and while originally Morris created his wallpaper exclusively using wooden block printing, he also occasionally used machinery. Later advances in technology also means that the majority of Morris-inspired or designed wallpaper is now printed using machinery. I hope this clears up some confusion!
