  • This resources is still wrong - the parts are not equal

    • Hi KirstieLarge1,
Thanks for your comment! I'll pass it over to our resource creation team, who will look into this further for you :) Please let us know if we can help with anything else!

    • Hi there,
Our lovely resource creation have taken another look at this resource and the shapes are all definitely equally sized - some have been split up differently to provide extra challenge (e.g a square split into two triangles or two rectangles) which may be causing some confusion. You could cut up the shapes with your class as a fun activity to prove they are all the same size. I hope this helps!

  • Lovely idea in principle, but fractions MUST be made up of equal parts. Some of these are equal (using the same shape repeatedly) but some include different shapes of different sizes, meaning it is not a fraction.

    • Hi HannahLindsayCirenPri,
Thank you so much for letting us know about this one. I'll get this resource checked right away!

    • Hi there,
Thank you for contacting Twinkl. Our lovely resource creation team have taken a look and the shapes all have the same area, but are divided up to look different in order to make the colouring more challenging for students. In the later examples, the diagonal triangles are the same as the rectangles. You could turn this into an activity with your class to prove that they are the same size by cutting the shapes up. I hope this helps!

  • Are these sheets all essentially the same?  I can't see much difference other than the requirement to calculate the fractions of amounts?

    • Hi there,
While the first activity sheet for each level of differentiation are the same, the second activity provides further work adapted for different ability levels. I hope this clears up some confusion!

  • Hi. This looks brilliant - thank you! But I've noticed the second higher ability sheet is missing. The answers are there, it's just the questions. Thanks

    • I can still only see answers for the second part of the higher ability sheet.

    • Hi michaeljt1978,
Thank you so much for getting in touch! It's lovely to hear from you :) I have taken a look and there are 2 answer sheets and 1 question sheet - the children first have to colour in the fractions (answer sheet 1) then write their own statements for the fractions that they have created (answer sheet 2) - I hope this helps!

Use these differentiated activity sheets to help your children develop their understanding of finding fractions of shapes and amounts by colouring in the appropriate number of sections on each stained glass window.
