  • Hi Twinkl,I wonder that the boys' puberty section needs something about hormones and their effects as well - rather than lumping it in with the penis section. Just having it in the girls' puberty section might lead children to believe that it's mainly girls who get emotional rather than both sexes in different ways. Thanks

  • PSHE (SRE) with SEN pupils. 06/10/16. It's really a great pp to use to encourage pupils to speak up and share their knowledge and understanding of their own bodies, and how they experience and feel about the changes taking place.

  • I would use this in Y5/6 for PSHE or SRE but not for younger year groups...

  • hi! The text font on this goes all funny on computer and when i used it at school. is there something i should be doing that fixes this?
Also, it says in the power point that it might be better to split girls and boys. This is a bit backwards in thinking isn't it? We teach everything to everyone so that they are educated. I don't think males should not be taught about the female system because they are male and the same for females. We should teach children and young people that these things are all normal and there should be no taboo.

    • Hi there,

      Thanks for your comment! :)

The issue that you're having with the font may be because the PowerPoint has been created using Sassoon font. There is a Comic Sans version available to download in the 'Alternative versions' box below the download button.

We understand that talking about this topic can be a sensitive and embarrassing topic for some. Whilst we have included the suggestion that you may wish to separate boys and girls, you are of course free to deliver this topic in the way that fits with your own teaching. The PowerPoint is also editable so that you can change the wording or remove the slide altogether.

I hope this helps. Have a lovely evening! :)

  • Please could additional information be added to this to briefly explain that women begin their menstrual cycle, as well as some of the emotional changes the children might expect?

Thanks for getting in touch with us here at Twinkl. Don't worry, you're not going mad! The additional content mentioned above has actually been added to this resource - hence there not being any alternative versions to download! I hope this helps, have a great day :)

Look at how our bodies change during puberty with this handy powerpoint. Includes labelled diagrams of both male and female bodies to illustrate the changes we undergo.
